We had a wonderful experience at Tico Lingo and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a warm, welcoming Spanish immersion environment in Costa Rica. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly supportive, friendly, and well organized. The school creates a genuinely inclusive atmosphere where students feel comfortable participating and connecting with one another. My teacher, Zaida, was exceptionally patient, kind, and thoughtful, and it was clear she cared deeply about her students and their learning experience. The classroom environment was relaxed and engaging, and my fellow students were engaged, friendly, and easy to connect with. The extracurricular activities were a great complement to the classes—the city tour was a perfect way to get oriented and bond as a group. Our homestay was truly outstanding and a highlight of our experience. Our host family was warm, generous, and attentive, and they made us feel completely at home. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and we had many natural opportunities to practice Spanish while also learning about Costa Rican daily life and culture. Overall, Tico Lingo offers a thoughtfully run immersion experience with wonderful people, a strong sense of community, and genuine care for students. We’re very grateful for the experience and would happily recommend the school to others.

Spent two weeks at Tico Lingo and had a fantastic experience. The program is intentional, from the classroom learning, to the lunchtime, evening, and weekend activities, to the homestay program. Additionally, Heredia is a quaint, local town and you easily feel immersed in the culture and the language, but the weekend trips allow you to explore more of what Costa Rica has to offer. It was also easy to travel around via car or public transportation. My experience was super organized from beginning to end, staff were available to assist with whatever I needed, and the value for the cost was well worth it. My only negative is that I didn’t plan to spend more time there because two weeks goes by fast. If you’re considering a language immersion program, I’d definitely put Tico Lingo top of the list.

I spent a month as a student at Tico Lingo in December 2025, including homestay with a family who were very welcoming. The teacher and all the lessons were excellent. The city of Heredia is really ideal: not too big, safe, lots to see in the city and with tropical forest, waterfalls, mountains and volcanoes nearby. During the 4 weeks I was there, I significantly improved my Spanish. I would recommend Tico Lingo to anyone who wants to learn Spanish in a positive and fun environment and with tours to see the spectacular sights of nature in Costa Rica on the weekends. Heredia es una ciudad ideal: no demasiado grande, es segura, con mucho ver en la ciudad y con bosque, cataratas, montañas y volcanes muy cerca. Durante las cuatro semanas mejoraba mucho mi español. Yo recomendaría Tico Lingo a cualquiera persona que quiera aprender español en un ambiente positivo y divertido y cons tours para ver la naturaleza increíble de Costa Rica por las fines de semana.

Super helpful and kind staff. Great communication prior to arrival. Great job setting up a comfortable homestay experience. If you have never done a program like this before, I think you will feel very supported by Tico Lingo. If you are considering it, go!
