Language Exchange at Tico Lingo in Heredia, Costa Rica

Our Students

At Tico Lingo, we’ve had the privilege of teaching students ranging from the age of 5 to 81, hailing from every corner of the globe. For some, Spanish is their second language; for others, it’s their fourth or fifth. Costa Rica might be their first international adventure or just another stop on an epic journey around the world.

Despite their differences in age, nationality, language background, and travel experience, every student walks through our doors driven by a shared passion for the Spanish language and a deep curiosity about Costa Rican culture. Over the weeks they spend with us, they don’t just learn—they become part of our community. They leave not only as confident Spanish speakers but also as cultural ambassadors, carrying with them the flavors, traditions, and warmth of Costa Rica.

Missing Tico Lingo already!!! What a joy and pleasure to share this time together. Everyone felt like family. People asked me my favorite part of the trip. I told them JOY- The joy of all the experiences, joy on my students faces, the joy of the Tico families, and the joy that you all put into this program. Thank you so much to my Tico Lingo family!

I would HIGHLY recommend this school. I spent two weeks there in June 2025 and couldn’t have been more impressed with the quality of the teachers, the helpfulness of the staff, the opportunities for tours and fun activities to broaden my understanding of the culture and country, and the richness of the home stay experience. I only regret not staying longer.

I had such a wonderful experience at Tico Lingo! The staff were all so kind and supportive. I started my trip around Costa Rica with 1 week at Tico Lingo to help build some basic language skills. It was such a perfect starting point and I learned alot in that week. They also offer a diverse selection of fun extra activities like yoga, dance classes, chocolate tours and other excursions. I highly reccomend!

Awesome experience with fun and engaging people! If you are serious about learning Spanish this is a great way to create a solid foundation to build upon. We did the Super Immersive program which included 4 hours of interactive classroom instruction (Zaida is the best) and a private tutor for 2 hours in the afternoon every day for 5 days. Well worth the investment of time and money. We have tried so many apps and other ways to learn. This should be a must before using any apps. We plan to continue instructor led training on a much slower pace on our journey to become fluent in Spanish.

Unbelievable experience! If you are looking for a true Spanish immersion with very kind people, a comfortable environment, excellent instructors and a fun community, you need to sign up for some time at Tico Lingo! It’s very affordable, so sign up for a month! Also, but not last, sign up for a homestay to live with a local family. It was an incredible part of the experience. The family I stayed with was kind and very accommodating. Our Tico mama prepared delicious food living with them really helped increase conversational Spanish abilities. We still keep in contact!
