Tico Lingo has partnered with Jordan, The Spanish Dude, one of the most influential Spanish educators on YouTube, to bring you a 10-day Spanish immersion adventure in Heredia, Costa Rica.

This is not another online course. This is Spanish in real life.

You’ll take Spanish classes at Tico Lingo, stay with a local homestay family, explore Costa Rican culture, practice with native speakers, and spend 10 days surrounded by the language you’ve been working so hard to learn.

You already know the videos. You already know the grammar. Now come experience the moment when Spanish stops being something you study and starts becoming something you live.

Day 1: Friday Evening
¡Bienvenidos!
Tico Lingo's bilingual transport team is ready to greet you at the airport and whisk you away to meet your friendly local homestay family. We'll make sure each student is set up with WiFi and given keys to their front door and bedroom. Students will share dinner with their homestay family and have plenty of time to unpack and unwind from their journey. Let the adventure begin!

Orientation
Your first full day begins with a walk to Tico Lingo alongside your homestay mom, giving you your first taste of daily life in Heredia. At school, you’ll finally meet Jordan, The Spanish Dude, in person! After a program orientation and introduction to the Tico Lingo team, our teaching philosophy, and the goals for the experience, you’ll meet your Spanish professors and classmates for class. After class, we’ll enjoy lunch together and take a guided walking tour through Heredia’s parks, historic architecture, and local shops.

White Water Rafting
Bright and early, the Tico Lingo team will pick each student up from their homestay family before we head into the mountains for breakfast together. After breakfast, we’ll continue to the Sarapiquí River for a full-day whitewater rafting adventure surrounded by Costa Rica’s lush rainforest scenery. Get ready for an exciting day of paddling, laughing, and exploring Costa Rica’s adventurous side alongside your classmates, Jordan, and the Tico Lingo team.

Day 4: Monday
Scavenger Hunt + Intercambio
After Spanish class, we share a lunch together at the school. We then embark on a competitive scavenger hunt, exploring Heredia and conversing in Spanish with local shopkeepers and Costa Ricans.
In the afternoon, we visit a local community college for our "intercambio" activity, where we strengthen our Spanish speaking skills and help local Costa Rican students learn a bit of English.

Animal Rescue Center
Today we’re heading to Costa Rica’s oldest and largest animal sanctuary for an up-close look at the country’s incredible wildlife. You’ll learn how the center rescues, rehabilitates, and, whenever possible, releases native Costa Rican animals back into the wild. Along the way, you’ll see more than 125 species, including monkeys, sloths, scarlet macaws, and giant iguanas. It’s fun, fascinating, very Costa Rican, and yes, there will be plenty of “wait, how do you say that in Spanish?” moments along the way.

Lunch + Relax
Today is a slower day, and honestly, you’ve earned it. We’ll share lunch together as a group, then take some free time to relax, recharge, and enjoy Heredia at your own pace. You can hit the gym, visit a dance studio, do a little shopping, catch up on studying at Tico Lingo, or simply take it easy before the next big adventure.

San José Walking Tour
After class, we’ll hop on the bus and head to San José for an afternoon in Costa Rica’s capital city. We’ll start with lunch at a beautiful café, followed by a short coffee tasting workshop, because yes, Costa Rican coffee deserves its own moment. From there, we’ll explore some of San José’s most iconic spots, including the National Theatre of Costa Rica and the Central Market. Along the way, we’ll make a few stops to learn about the city’s history, culture, architecture, and everyday life. It’s the perfect mix of Spanish practice, coffee, culture, and capital city energy.

Graduation + Dance Class
Great job, graduates! After Spanish class, we’ll celebrate everything you’ve accomplished with a graduation ceremony at Tico Lingo. Each participant who completes the program will receive a certificate, and we’ll take a moment to say goodbye to our amazing Spanish professors. After the ceremony, we’ll enjoy lunch together before jumping into one final Costa Rican experience: salsa dancing! Then, the afternoon is yours. You can relax at school, explore Heredia, or shop for a few souvenirs before the program comes to a close.

Boat Trip to Isla Tortuga
Bright and early, we’ll head to the Pacific Coast for one of the most beautiful days of the program. We’ll board a catamaran and cruise across the Gulf of Nicoya toward Isla Tortuga, a tropical island known for its clear water, soft sand, and classic Costa Rican beach vibes. Once we arrive, you’ll have time to swim, relax, explore, play beach games, and enjoy lunch with the group. It’s the perfect final adventure: sunshine, ocean, Spanish practice, and plenty of pura vida.

Airport Drop-offs
On departure day, our transportation team will pick you up from your homestay approximately 2.5 hours before your flight leaves Costa Rica and take you directly to San José International Airport. After 10 days of Spanish, adventure, new friendships, and plenty of pura vida, it’s time to head home with great memories and a whole lot more confidence in Spanish. Safe travels, amigos. We’ll miss you!

Frequently Asked Questions

This program is for motivated Spanish learners who are ready to take their Spanish out of the classroom and into real life. Group 1 is best for beginner to lower-intermediate learners, while Group 2 is best for intermediate to upper-intermediate learners.

Group 1, from October 2 to October 11, is designed for beginner to lower-intermediate Spanish learners who want to build confidence, strengthen their foundation, and practice speaking in a supportive environment.

Group 2, from October 16 to October 25, is designed for intermediate to upper-intermediate learners who already have a solid base in Spanish and want to push toward more natural conversation and stronger fluency.

Yes, flights are not included. You’ll fly into Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San José, Costa Rica. Tico Lingo picks you up at the airport and handles all in-country transportation for the entire 10 days.

Your $500 deposit is fully refundable up to 6 weeks before your program start date. After that, deposits are non-refundable. If you cancel after paying your full balance, refunds are at Tico Lingo’s discretion based on costs already committed on your behalf. Once the program has started, no refunds are issued.

Each group requires a minimum of 6 confirmed participants to run. If that minimum isn’t met 30 days before the start date, you’ll receive a full refund of all payments made to Tico Lingo. Note: they are not responsible for flight costs, consider travel insurance.

 

Yes, but this experience works best when you’re fully immersed and focused on speaking as much Spanish as possible. If your spouse isn’t participating, they can unintentionally pull you back into English, which slows down your progress. If you both want to come to Costa Rica and meet up before or after the program, Tico Lingo can help you coordinate that. But during the 10 days, you’ll get the most out of it by being all-in.

Yes. Jordan will be in Costa Rica with the group during the program. Participants will have in-person access to The Spanish Dude throughout the experience, including two workshops led by Jordan himself.

Yes, this program is 18+ only. The structure, independence, and intensity of the experience are designed for adults who are serious about improving their Spanish.
Homestay meals are fully flexible. You’ll communicate your needs before arrival and Tico Lingo coordinates directly with your host family. All dietary restrictions and allergies are accommodated.
