This special program is offered on two separate dates, with each group designed for a different Spanish level.
Group 1
October 2 to October 11, 2026
Best for beginner to lower-intermediate Spanish learners
This group is ideal for students who have studied some Spanish but still feel nervous speaking in real conversations. You may know basic vocabulary, common verbs, and simple grammar, but you want more confidence putting it all together.
Group 1 is a great fit for learners who are still building their foundation and want a supportive, encouraging environment to practice speaking, listening, and using Spanish in daily life.
Group 2
October 16 to October 25, 2026
Best for intermediate to upper-intermediate Spanish learners
This group is designed for students who already have a solid foundation in Spanish and are ready to push toward greater fluency.
You can likely hold basic conversations, understand a good amount of spoken Spanish, and explain your ideas, but you want to speak more naturally, expand your vocabulary, improve your accuracy, and feel more comfortable in spontaneous real-world situations.
Group 2 is a great fit for learners who are ready for more conversation, deeper cultural interaction, and a stronger immersion challenge.

Weekdays are designed to balance structured Spanish learning with real-life immersion, cultural connection, and time to enjoy Costa Rica.
A typical weekday might look like this.
Morning
Enjoy a typical Costa Rican breakfast with your homestay family. Think fresh local coffee and fruit, fried plantains, eggs, and the famous “gallo pinto” from Costa Rica. After breakfast, take a short walk (within 20 minutes) through town to Tico Lingo.
Spanish class
Spend the morning in Spanish class with experienced Tico Lingo professors. Classes are practical, interactive, and focused on helping you speak with more confidence. All Spanish professores are native Spanish speakers and have the expertise to get you speaking more!
Lunch and free time
Join the group for lunch held at Tico Lingo! Or, on a free day, explore Heredia, grab lunch at a local restaurant, visit a café, or relax before the afternoon activities.
Afternoon activity
Join a cultural activity, conversation exchange, dance class, local tour, or special session with Jordan.
Evening
Return to your homestay for dinner, practice Spanish with your host family, and enjoy a slower, more local side of Costa Rican life.
Every day gives you the chance to use Spanish in the classroom, on the street, at home, and in real conversations.
Housing
To truly immerse each participant in Costa Rican culture and language, the Spanish Dude Camp places students with local Costa Rican homestay families. Located within walking distance of Tico Lingo, each homestay family provides students opportunities to practice their conversational Spanish over meals and get a first-hand look at how traditional Costa Rican family lives.
Homes are equipped with hot water, stable wifi, and a quiet place to study and do homework. Each student will be placed with their own homestay family, and will be given their own private bedroom as well as keys to their room and the front door of the home.
Meals
Obviously meals vary day to day, but fresh fruits, veggies, rice, beans, and locally grown coffee should be expected on the regular. Costa Rican cuisine is nutritionally well rounded, always cooked from scratch, and loaded with the many exotic fruits and vegetables readily available locally.
Breakfast will almost always be served at your homestay and will include things like toast, coffee, orange juice, eggs, homemade tortillas, gallo pinto (a traditional Costa Rican dish), pancakes, bananas, mangos, kiwi, and pineapple.
Lunch is typically shared with the entire group either at Tico Lingo or out at a local restaurant.
Dinner will be served at your homestay and will vary daily. Students shouldn’t hesitate to let homestays know what they like to eat, but a typical dinner could include rice, beans, chicken, fish, lots of fresh vegetables (think broccoli, cauliflower, onions, and sweet peppers), pasta, salads, soups, and the occasional pizza night.

Your $500 deposit is fully refundable up to 6 weeks before your program start date. After that, deposits are non-refundable. Yes, but this experience works best when you’re fully immersed and focused on speaking as much Spanish as possible. If your spouse isn’t participating, they can unintentionally pull you back into English, which slows down your progress. If you both want to come to Costa Rica and meet up before or after the program, Tico Lingo can help you coordinate that. But during the 10 days, you’ll get the most out of it by being all-in.
Yes. Jordan will be in Costa Rica with the group during the program. Participants will have in-person access to The Spanish Dude throughout the experience, including two workshops led by Jordan himself.
